Hairy Mess Controlled

Trimming is a slow and rather deliberate process ... what to cut? where to cut it?
After two days of slow going I think this is it. The loose yarns are contained so the surface is no longer "wild and wooly" and controlled so there's a suggestion of the green triangle. Here's what was trimmed away...

I'm playing with the idea of this band across the top ...
It's a piece of large yellow rick-rack (found in one of the scrap bags given to me) interwoven with a piece of green suede. Not sure if it'll stay and if it does, if it will remain in one long piece. I'm still playing with the composition.

Your 'Hairy Mess' is looking great. I love the colours of all those little silk squares - they shine out.
Now you will have to find something to make with all the yarns you cut away!!

This technique with all the surface texture and the subtle color variation makes this a fascinating quilt. I can tell it's the kind of art work I could put on a wall and live with for a very long time, finding new and varying pleasures each time I stop to really look at it.

Scary, since cutting can't be undone. But it's looking good, I think.

You will figure it all out and it will be wonderful. I love that background fabric!

I have been searching for a place to comment on your lake series. I've just been looking at them again - I've looked at them before. That series of work is amazing, nellie.

Did you manage to get to 100?

Your current work with texture looks very exciting.

Hi, Nellie. Really like this piece with so much surface excitement. And I especially like your "Unraveled IV"--sumptuous. Sorry I'm not visiting Knoxville this spring. A big "hi" to all the Thursday Bee!
