Loving My Juki
I'm loving this machine! The quilting is going fast and there's little disruption with just a few breaking threads. This is taking a bit of getting used to after not being able to stitch more than an inch or two without that happening on the Brother. One little "buggaboo" on this wonderful machine is the automatic needle threader. I'm not finding that part easy to operate. I finally dug up one of those little silver wire needle threaders to speed getting the thread through needle along.
As much as I like this new machine, I had liked the Brother. It worked well up until it started punching loops of top thread to the back and then shredding it. I had it professionally cleaned, oiled, and greased. There was a minor improvement. On the recommendation of quilting friends (in particular, Loretta Painter), I ordered this one. The Brother will be taken to the dealer it was purchased from when I get back to Tennessee to see if the problem can be fixed. I don't know what I'll do with it then. In less than a day I'm spoiled by the Juki.

What a lovely outlook you have while you are sewing.

Hi Nellie,
Thanks for the update on your new Juki, so glad you love it! Well.
Love your bird pattern, I will be making some for my sewing room.

I have the same machine, and love to quilt on it- so I'm happy for you. I've never figured out the needle threader, and use the same solution you came up with. In the four years I've had it, my machine has not given me any trouble-
Wonderfull!! And what a perfect spot to quilt in. I hope your able to enjoy the beach this summer, it has not been the warmest of weather on our side of the big pond...raining as I type this and cool out as well. Looking forward to seeing the panels in person when they are hanging in Elgin!!
Enjoy your new machine!
I love my Juki too - especially the thread cutter and the knee lift in combination :-) and i don't like to go back to my old pfaff!
Glad you like your new machine. I love the needle threader on my Pfaff but it did take a bit of getting used to. Now I'd be lost without it. I'm not sure if they are the same though.
Isn't it nice to sew with a beautiful view of nature out the window!
Hi Nellie, I am back again. I just wanted to share this award with you. To say thanks for sharing your amazing works of art.
great progess being made! thanks for the info on your flower centers. I had the same problem with my automatic needle threader. turns out the little doo hicky that pulls the thread through wasn't aligned properly. might be something to check on your juki!
I gave up on my needle threader too. Hope to take some time to practice, practice and practice. I have a new baby lock quilters choice and really like it.
I know I should be looking at your wonderful new Juki, and the quilt you are working on---but, I'm more fascinated by your cute decorated sewing desk and the rick-rack trim on your chair! Oh---and the view from your window!
Angie, thanks. To read about the painting of the sewing desk and decorating of the chair, type "studio north" into the search box at the top of my blog.
Your work is amazing! I just found your blog as I was searching for a way to hang quilted wall art. So far my Brother has been fine but I haven't "stressed" it yet after only a few months of owning it. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
