A Real Sunset

These photos were taken less than an hour ago. I noticed the sky was getting more beautiful and intense after the sun had gone down at 9:30. This first picture was taken through the trees as I walked down the stairs from the the livingroom.
When I got out to the deck overlooking the beach ...
and then it kept getting more intense.
So, the many colors I put into my lake quilts are not so far fetched. It's the culmination of seeing hues like this on the lake for 40 plus years that I draw from within myself when making each quilt in this series.

No matter how off the wall we get with colors, nature always seems to top us! Your sunset photos are inspiring.

that gave me a thought...what if next time you showed some of your lake series you had some gorgeous pics with them too?
Its eye opening for me to see your inspiration play out via the actual pictures. beeeeautiful

Paula, so far the lake as it actually appears hasn't been the inspiration for the pieces I've made. I can now see the the time approaching when pieces will reflect these dramatic after sundown skies.

This is without a doubt the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. How wonderful to have if just outside your window!

Thanks for the inspiration. I have just bought a set of Queen Ann style wooden legs to hold up a new sewing table and rather than stain them to match the walnut top, I'm going to Technicolor & gold leaf them!
