Back to the Lake

Lake #17
It's been a week since I've made a piece for the Lake Series. I could hardly wait to make this one ... to get at some of the scraps from the projects made by my friend Alicia (you'll get to see those tomorrow).

This is beautiful Nellie.
I love the way you show the before and after of the stitching.

Hi Nelly! I've been missing your lake in these days!
Your son looks very funny dressed like a rabbit!

Lake Michigan water can be crystal clear and oh so blue as well as reflecting many colors. Its water also can be brown/ochre with churned up sand and still be clean. However, it can be ochre/brown with water from river tributaries and pollution. That condition makes me sad. I prefer to think Lake #17 is churned up sand. But then, I did put a streak of pollution in the cloud. Hmmmmm.....

It is really amazing to see what happens to the piece once you have added the quilting. I like the colors of the water in this one, I saw it more as the beach on an early morning, with the golden hue of the sun coloring everything in that morning wash of golden browns. I guess you can tell which side of the lake I live on! LOL
