I'm Making a Mess
I'm making a mess of my studio. There are bits and pieces everywhere. I keep stuffing the tulle netting back into its bag so I don't get tangled up in it.
There is this huge table top to work on and all I can manage to keep clear is a space big enough to lay out one small Lake quilt on a corner of it.
You've may have noticed one of my ingredients is finely cut strips of wool. This treasure was given to me be a friend who hooks rugs. Most of it hand-dyed. There's a pile of it on the lower right. Otherwise, there's a big bag of it on the floor.
Lake #11 is on the table. Below is Lake #13. There's a bit of yellowish smog on the horizon. That's a common occurrence on hot summer days.
I'm coming down with a cold and didn't remember to take a photo of it under construction. Aargh!
Please note that all thirteen quilts can be viewed by clicking on the Lake Series album in the sidebar to right of this posting.

I have tulle drifts all over my studio too---better than snow!!!!
I really enjoyed the photos of the lake scenes as you built them-the final result is amazing.
You dont know how happy it makes me to see someone else has a messy studio too!! I got tired of embroidering purple hair so I made a couple of other small things and the mess is everywhere!snips on the floor fabric strewn about and me happy as a clam in the midst of it all, I do believe chaos is a necessary by product of art...
This is untidy? I think not, I can still see floor. My new favourite is number 13.
A friend gave me a big compliment when she came over and I was apologizing for such a mess. She said, It's obviously a working studio. I really think it's impossible for most of us to be creative without making a mess. Your results are definitely worth any amount of mess. I really like your latest one.
Its amazing how messy things can get!
Hey I submitted your site to mocoloco.com a few days ago...who knows if they will post it but I gave them the links to the dawg and painted flowers posts (they have some embroidered work up there that I think pales in comparison to what you do). sometimes it takes them awhile to get sites up...they put my work up in dec. so you never know!
looks great, rest up and feel better, if you think your studio is a mess, i should photo mine.
This quilt is lovely!
And I like the way your studio looks. It's not that messy... It could be much much worse, believe me.
I thank all of you for your comments. The studio has gotten much messier since those photos were taken. A friend is coming for a visit and to play in my studio for a week. Consequently, I have a few more days to muck around and then I need to clean up and make some room on that table for her to work.
Hi Nellie, your studio is like a painter's studio. Like a painter uses the colours you use the fabrics!
So the mess is normal.
These evening I have to translate your post because my friends want to understand how can you do your masterpieces.
ciao ciao.
